Flying Cheap
I must have money on the brain because one of my recent posts was about the cost of flying my own plane (or at least the planes I rent) and its affordability. For those of you who have read my blog for a while, you know I travel a fair amount for work (on commercial airlines obviously). I usually fly the same airline for business (throwing costs to the wind), but it when it comes to my personal travel, I’m always trying to find the best rates/fares. I used to be very fond of Kayak.com, but I recently stumbled across www.cheapflights.com (www.Cheapflights.co.uk for my readers across the pond) and think it’s a pretty darn good site that I intend on using more. I must disclose that I been compensated to check them out, but I must admit it’s a pretty slick site.
Like many travel sites out there, CheapFlights.com aggregates the prices/deals from the air carriers, but with this site, it even aggregates the sites that aggregate! (i.e., Kayak, Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, Hotwire, etc.) So, I can get rest assured it’ll find me the best flight fares out there. I particularly like the ability to be flexible with travel dates and let the site pick the dates/times that end up getting me the absolute cheapest flight out there (hence the name of the site, I imagine)…then I can compare flights against the “cheapest” and hopefully feel like I’m not getting ripped! If only this site could figure in my personal flying costs and compare it all for me…ha.
